Information about the Taster Day

We do our very best to make the day as relaxed and friendly as we can. On arrival, your daughter will be welcomed by Mr. Rowley, Director of Junior Section, who will look after her throughout the morning.

During the morning your daughter will complete the following assessments:

  • an age related Maths paper
  • an age related comprehension paper
  • a non-verbal reasoning paper (Years 4 to 6)
  • a word recognition paper (multi-choice for a blank space in a sentence)

Our Taster Day is more than just the assessments; it is about your daughter experiencing Wakefield Girls' and for us to get to know them. Your daughter will have lunch with our students, have the opportunity to take part in one of our lunchtime clubs and spend time with our students in class during the afternoon.

Dietary Requirements, Medical Information and Access Arrangement Information Required

As your daughter will be joining us for over a half day and will be provided with lunch, please can you confirm if she has any dietary requirements, allergens and or any medical conditions that we need to be made aware of.

Please note that Halal and Vegetarian options will be available.

There will be a wide selection of hot dishes available, along with a selection of filled baguettes & wraps, freshly baked jacket potatoes with cheese, tuna or classic baked beans and a selection of seasonal compound salads, simple salads, dressings & toppings.

For the assessment papers, to ensure we are not discriminating against any student, please advise in writing if your daughter has any disability, special educational need or behavioural issue. It is important our Learning Support Team are made aware of this prior to the Assessment Day to ensure pupils are set up with the correct access arrangements.

If you have any concerns you wish to discuss with our School Nurse prior to your daughter attending their Taster Day, please contact the Admissions Team in the first instance, who will be happy to arrange a call with the School Nurse for you.
